Portside is Australia's best-known DIY spot, built inside an abandoned, burnt-out telecommunications building in a small quarry behind sporting fields at Newport on the Northern Beaches. It centres on a tight concrete bowl roughly 3ft in most sections plus a ramped wall climbing toward the ceiling, with quirky features like skateable windowsills. As an unofficial, transition-heavy DIY it suits experienced bowl and transition skaters rather than beginners.
